CHAPTER 9
AMPLIFIED BIBLE
RECEIVED BY FAITH
I am speaking the truth in Christ. I am not lying; my conscience (enlightened and prompted) by the Holy Spirit bearing witness with me.
That I have bitter grief and anguish in my heart.
For I could wish that I myself was accursed and cut off and banished from Christ for the sake of my brethren and my natural kinsmen and my fellow countrymen. (Exodus 32:32).
For they are Isrealities, and to them belong God's adoption (as a nation) and the glorious Presence (Shekinah). With them were the special covenants made, to them was the Law given. To them (the temple) worship was revealed and (God's own) promises announced.
To them belong the patriarchs, and as far as his natural descent was concerned, from them is the Christ, Who is exalted and supreme over all, God, blessed forever! Amen (So let it be).
However, it is not as though God's word had failed (coming to nothing). For it is not everybody who is a descendant of Jacob (Israel) who belongs to (the true) Israel.
And they are not all the children of Abraham because they are by blood descendants. No (the promise was) your descendants will be called and counted through the line of Isaac (though Abraham had an older son).
That is to say, it is not the children of the body (of Abraham) who are made up of God's children, but it is the offspring to whom the promise applies that shall be counted as Abraham true descendants.
For this is what the promise said, About this time (next year) will I return and Sarah shall have a son.
And not only that, but this too: Rebecca conceived two sons under exactly the same circumstances by our forefather Isaac.
For those who he foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of his son, so that he would be the firstborn among many brethren.
and these who he predestined, he also called, and those whom he called, he also justified; and these who he justified, he also glorified.
What shall we then say to these things? If God is for us, who is against us?
He who did not spare his own son, but delivered him over for us all, how will he not also with him freely give us all things.
Who will bring a charge against God's elect? God is the one who justifies;
Who is the one who condemns? Christ Jesus is he who died, yes, rather who was raised, who is at the right hand of God, who also intercedes for us.
Who will separate us from the love of Christ? Will Tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?
Just as it is written,
For you sake we are being put to death all day long;
we were considered as sheep to be slaughtered.
But in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through him who loved us.
For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers,
Nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Commentary on Romans 9:25-29
(Read Romans 9:25-29)
The rejecting of the Jews, and the taking in the Gentiles, were foretold in the Old Testament. It tends very much to the clearing of a truth, to observe how the Scripture is fulfilled in it. It is a wonder of Divine power and mercy that there are any saved: for even those left to be a seed, if God had dealt with them according to their sins, had perished with the rest. This great truth this Scripture teaches us. Even among the vast number of professing Christians it is to be feared that only a remnant will be saved.
Commentary on Romans 9:30-33
(Read Romans 9:30-33)
The Gentiles knew not their guilt and misery, therefore were not careful to procure a remedy. Yet they attained to righteousness by faith. Not by becoming proselytes to the Jewish religion, and submitting to the ceremonial law; but by embracing Christ, and believing in him, and submitting to the gospel. The Jews talked much of justification and holiness, and seemed very ambitious to be the favorites of God. They sought, but not in the right way, not in the humbling way, not in the appointed way. Not by faith, not by embracing Christ, depending upon Christ, and submitting to the gospel. They expected justification by observing the precepts and ceremonies of the law of Moses. The unbelieving Jews had a fair offer of righteousness, life, and salvation, made them upon gospel terms, which they did not like, and would not accept. Have we sought to know how we may be justified before God, seeking that blessing in the way here pointed out, by faith in Christ, as the Lord our Righteousness? Then we shall not be ashamed in that awful day, when all refuges of lies shall be swept away, and the Divine wrath shall overflow every hiding-place but that which God hath prepared in his own Son.
The writers love for his fellow brethren is touching. I wish that those whom God has called would accept the offer. Their history is beautiful and they have patriarchs who walk with God.

THE Jewish people
THE JEWS ARE A UNIQUE AND A SPECIAL PEOPLE.THEIR HISTORY IS BEAUTIFUL. THEIR STORY IS ONE OF LOVE.
WE CAN SAY WITHOUT HESITATION GOD LOVED THE JEWISH PEOPLE. YES HE LOVES ALL PEOPLE BUT WE STEP IN AS GENTILES LATER IN THE BIBLE BUT THE OLD TESTAMENT IS GOD MOVING MOUNTAINS AND HEAVENS FOR HIS CHOSEN PEOPLE (ISRAEL). HE MADE A PROMISE AND HE KEPT THE PROMISE.
THEIR STORY IS GOD LIVED AMONG THEM HOW SPECIAL IS THAT!
IT ALSO HAS TRAGEDY;THE DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST.THE BRUTAL DEATH OF JESUS CHRIST (FROM A HUMAN PERSPECTIVE) A INNOCENT HUMAN MAN HEALING AND TEACHING AND A SMALL RELIGIOUS SECTOR SETTING HIM UP TO BE KILLED BY THE ROMANS.
WE HAVE LOTS OF GREAT THINGS BECAUSE OF HIS DEATH BUT THINK FOR A MOMENT HE SUFFERED AT THE HANDS OF WICKED MEN.
THAT MOMENT IN HISTORY TRULY CHANGE THINGS FOR THE JEWISH PEOPLE TODAY THEY ARE ALL OVER THE WORLD AND GOD HAS MAINTAINED HIS PROMISE TO THEM. I BET HE DESIRES FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT SAVED TO BECOME SAVE.
THE COMMENTARY DISCUSSES THAT THE GENTILES DID NOT HAVE THE LAW.BUT THEY KNEW THEIR GUILT. THEY KNEW THAT THEY WERE IN NEED OF GOD.THE PROBLEM IS NEVER SIN BUT IT IS (HONESTY) ACKNOWLEDGING THINGS AND BEING HONEST (REPENTING). WE DO THE SAME THINGS AS JEWS AND GENTILES, WHITES AND BLACKS, MALE AND FEMALE, YOUNG AND OLD. IT IS NOT ABOUT THOSE DISTINCTIONS BUT IT IS ALWAYS ABOUT THE HEART.
JUST MAYBE YOU ARE NOT AS BAD AS OTHER MEN BUT GOD SAYS THAT WE ALL HAVE FALLEN SHORT AND ARE IN NEED OF A SAVIOR. SADLY SOME PEOPLE HAVE NOT COMMITTED HORRIBLE SINS BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER THERE IS NONE GOOD BUT GOD.
I LOVE THE DIVERSITY OF THE JEWISH PEOPLE!
