Good Morning!

PSALM 69
A Cry of Distress and Imprecation on Adversaries.
To the Chief Musician; set to [the tune of] “Lilies.” A Psalm of David.

Save me, O God,
For the waters have threatened my life [they have come up to my neck].
I have sunk in deep mire, where there is no foothold;
I have come into deep waters, where a flood overwhelms me.
I am weary with my crying; my throat is parched;
My eyes fail while I wait [with confident expectation] for my God.
Those who hate me without cause are more than the hairs of my head;
Those who would destroy me are powerful, being my enemies wrongfully;
I am forced to restore what I did not steal.
O God, You know my folly;
My wrongs are not hidden from You.
Do not let those who wait [confidently] for You be ashamed through me, O Lord God of hosts;
Do not let those who seek You [as necessary for life itself] be dishonored through me, O God of Israel,
Because for Your sake I have borne reproach;
Confusion and dishonor have covered my face.
I have become estranged from my brothers
And an alien to my mother’s sons.
For zeal for Your house has consumed me,
And the [mocking] insults of those who insult You have fallen on me.
When I wept and humbled myself with fasting,
It became my reproach.
When I made sackcloth my clothing [as one in mourning],
I became a byword [a mere object of scorn] to them.
They who sit in the [city’s] gate talk about me and mock me,
And I am the song of the drunkards.
But as for me, my prayer is to You, O Lord, at an acceptable and opportune time;
O God, in the greatness of Your favor and in the abundance of Your lovingkindness,
Answer me with truth [that is, the faithfulness of Your salvation].
Rescue me from the mire and do not let me sink;
Let me be rescued from those who hate me and from the deep waters.
Do not let the floodwater overwhelm me,
Nor the deep waters swallow me up,
Nor the pit [of Sheol] shut its mouth over me.
Answer me, O Lord, for Your lovingkindness is sweet and good and comforting;
According to the greatness of Your compassion, turn to me.
Do not hide Your face from Your servant,
For I am in distress; answer me quickly.
Draw near to my soul and redeem it;
Ransom me because of my enemies [so that they do not delight in my distress].
You know my reproach and my shame and my dishonor [how I am insulted];
My adversaries are all before You [each one fully known].
Reproach and insults have broken my heart and I am so sick.
I looked for sympathy, but there was none,
And for comforters, but I found none.
They (self-righteous hypocrites) also gave me gall [poisonous and bitter] for my food,
And for my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.
May their table [with all its abundance and luxury] become a snare [to them];
And when they are in peace [secure at their sacrificial feasts], may it become a trap.
May their eyes be dimmed so that they cannot see,
And make their loins shake continually [in terror and weakness].
Pour out Your indignation on them,
And let [the fierceness of] Your burning anger overtake them.
May their encampment be desolate;
May no one dwell in their tents.
For they have persecuted him whom You have struck,
And they tell of the pain of those whom You have pierced and wounded.
Add [unforgiven] iniquity to their iniquity [in Your book],
And may they not come into Your righteousness.
May they be blotted out of the book of life [and their lives come to an end]
And may they not be recorded with the righteous (those in right standing with God).
But I am sorrowful and in pain;
May Your salvation, O God, set me [securely] on high.
I will praise the name of God with song
And magnify Him with thanksgiving.
And it will please the Lord better than an ox
Or a young bull with horns and hoofs.
The humble have seen it and are glad;
You who seek God [requiring Him as your greatest need], let your heart revive and live.
For the Lord hears the needy
And does not despise His who are prisoners.
Let heaven and earth praise Him,
The seas and everything that moves in them.
For God will save Zion and rebuild the cities of Judah,
That His servants may remain there and possess it.
The descendants of His servants will inherit it,
And those who love His name will dwell in it.

The Amplified Bible

Luke 13
Now Jesus was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath.
And there was a woman there who for eighteen years had had an infirmity caused by a spirit (a demon of sickness). She was bent completely forward and utterly unable to straighten herself up or to look upward. And when Jesus saw her, He called [her to Him] and said to her, Woman, you are released from your infirmity!
Then He laid [His] hands on her, and instantly she was made straight, and she recognized and thanked and praised God.
But the leader of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus had healed on the Sabbath, said to the crowd, There are six days on which work ought to be done; so come on those days and be cured, and not on the Sabbath day.

But the Lord replied to him, saying, You play actors (hypocrites)! Does not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his donkey from the stall and lead it out to water it? And ought not this woman, a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has kept bound for eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the Sabbath day? Even as He said this, all His opponents were put to shame, and all the people were rejoicing over all the glorious things that were being done by Him.This led Him to say, What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it?

 It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his own garden; and it grew and became a tree, and the wild birds found shelter and roosted and nested in its branches. And again He said, To what shall I liken the kingdom of God? It is like leaven which a woman took and hid in three measures of wheat flour or meal until it was all leavened (fermented). [Jesus] journeyed on through towns and villages, teaching, and making His way toward Jerusalem. And someone asked Him, Lord, will only a few be saved (rescued, delivered from the penalties of the last judgment, and made partakers of the salvation by Christ)? And He said to them, Strive to enter by the narrow door [force yourselves through it], for many, I tell you, will try to enter and will not be able.
When once the Master of the house gets up and closes the door, and you begin to stand outside and to knock at the door [again and again], saying, Lord, open to us! He will answer you, I do not know where [what household–certainly not Mine] you come from.
 Then you will begin to say, We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets. But He will say, I tell you, I do not know where [what household–certainly not Mine] you come from; depart from Me, all you wrongdoers! There will be weeping and grinding of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but you yourselves being cast forth (banished, driven away). And [people] will come from east and west, and from north and south, and sit down (feast at table) in the kingdom of God.

And behold, there are some [now] last who will be first [then], and there are some [now] first who will be last [then]. At that very hour some Pharisees came up and said to Him, Go away from here, for Herod is determined to kill You. And He said to them, Go and tell that fox [sly and crafty, skulking and cowardly], Behold, I drive out demons and perform healings today and tomorrow, and on the third day I finish (complete) My course. Nevertheless, I must continue on My way today and tomorrow and the day after that–for it will never do for a prophet to be destroyed away from Jerusalem!

O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who continue to kill the prophets and to stone those who are sent to you! How often I have desired and yearned to gather your children together [around Me], as a hen [gathers] her young under her wings, but you would not! Behold, your house is forsaken (abandoned, left to you destitute of God's help)! And I tell you, you will not see Me again until the time comes when you shall say, Blessed (to be celebrated with praises) is He Who comes in the name of the Lord!
