May 16, 2020, Psalms 66, Who is John?
Psalms 66
(To the chief Musician, A Song or Psalm.) Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:
Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.
Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.
All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.
Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.
He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.
He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.
O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:
Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.
For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.
Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.
Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place.
I will go into thy house with burnt offerings: I will pay thee my vows,
Which my lips have uttered, and my mouth hath spoken, when I was in trouble.
I will offer unto thee burnt sacrifices of fatlings, with the incense of rams; I will offer bullocks with goats. Selah.
Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.
I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.
If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:
But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.
Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.

I am sure King David knows first hand that when good things happen to us we take our minds off God and then trouble happens and we look for him. But how blessed is the person who keeps their mind on God.
Sing, sing, sing, sing
God loves when we sing unto him; so if he loves it I am sure the enemy hates it.
Next is: The Gospel according to John.
Who is the disciple John?
John is not one of the synoptic gospels.
(his gospel is different than Matthew, Mark, and Luke).
My Guess is the book of John will be more spiritual for example; (very popular scripture) "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made. In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it"
My Guess........John will explore deeper ideas about God and life.
word+light=life
the word was first +then life was made through the word+ that life was the light of all mankind.
the light shines in darkness (darkness cannot overcome it)
In God is life. Death does not exist.
If he made all things what is there to fear; we are enlighten thhrough the word. His word is light.
The word was made flesh. (Jesus Christ) His life was filled with light. He was from the beginning. Life begin because of his word).
In the garden Adam was told to freely eat from all the trees except the tree of the knowledge of good and even. And the tree of life was there, (Adam was suppose to talk to God only) words (God gave his instructions but Eve listen to the serpent and did what the devil convinced her to do.
(There eyes were opened and they knew good and evil)
they listen to the devil he was once good but he became evil).
Life = the word
death= the knowledge of good and evil
The other gospels just speak of what they did, for example Jesus spake to the crowd, and the Pharisees became angry. It is more eye witness concerning his deeds.
If you put them all together (the disciples) they really do give us a beautiful representation of God.
