June 14, Psalms 95, John 11

(I like to remember that this is the third book) It has a slightly different tone. It is more instructional.

Psalms 95

Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord;
let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation
Let us come before him with thanksgiving
and extol him with music and song.
For the Lord is the great God.
The Great King above all gods.
In his hand are the depths of the earth,
and the mountain peaks belong to him.
The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
come, let us bow down in worship,
let us kneel before the Lord our Maker;
For he is our God
and we are the people of his pasture,
the flock under his care,
Today, if only you would hear his voice,
Do not harden your hearts as you did at Meribah,
as you did that day at Massah in the wilderness,
where your ancestors tested me;
they tried me, though they seen what I did.
For forty years I was angry with that generation;
I said, They are a people whose hearts go astray
and they have not known my ways.
So I declared an oath in my anger,
They shall never enter my rest.

Jesus Comforts the Sisters of Lazarus
John 11

On his arrival, Jesus found that Lazarus had been in the tomb for four days. Now Bethany was less than two miles from Jerusalem, and may Jews had come to Martha and Mary to comfort them in the loss of their brother. When Martha head that Jesus was coming, she went out to meet him, but Mary stayed at home.
Lord, Martha said to Jesus, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. But I know that even now God will give you whatever you ask.

Jesus said to her, "Your brother will rise again."

I know he will rise again at the resurrection at the last day. Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. "Do you believe this?

Yes, Lord, she replied, I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world. After she had said this, she went back and called her sister Mary aside. The Teacher is here, she said, and is asking for you. When Mary heard this, she got up quickly and went to him. Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him. When the Jews who had been with Mary in the house, comforting her, noticed how quickly she got up and when out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there.

When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died. When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. "Where have you laid him! he asked. Come and see, Lord, they replied. Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, see how he loved him! But some of them said, Could not he who opened the blind eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?

Jesus sees their tears and he became troubled in his spirit.
Their hurt was his hurt.
He begins to weep.
He says take me to him.

I am..................... a Jesus lover.
He has done wonderful things for me.
We are complex creatures and he knows it.
We have something called a heart; and it connects us to God.
I am very proud to call him Lord.
There is nothing about Jesus that I am ashamed of.
Sometimes they did not  understand his plan.
Or his teachings.
But we are not meant to understand him.
But we can trust him.
He should be ashamed of us but he is not.

Have a great day! 💓💓
