Psalms 123
I will lift up my eyes to you,
to you who sit enthroned in heaven.
As the eyes of a slaves look to the hand
of their master,
as the eyes of a female slave who look to
the hand of her mistress,
So our eyes look to the Lord our God,
Till he shows us his mercy.
Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy on us,
for we have endured no end of contempt.
We have endured no end
of ridicule from the arrogant,
of contempt from the proud.
Endured implies that some unpleasant situations can happen for a long time. The writer says, I will look to the throne and wait for his mercy. God loves us just as much as he loves that person that ridicules others. Or the person who talks bad about others. Even the person who mocks others. The writer use of the word implies that they endured the ridicule of others for a long period of time.
We don't have to endure all things but things like ridicule and contempt can be endured because its an external thing and it is comparable to someone not liking you (contempt) or someone who makes fun of you. It is not hurting you physically or spiritually.
- to endure is to hold out against;
- sustain without impairment or yielding; undergo
- to bear without resistance or with patience; tolerate
Revelation 21
A New Heaven and A New EarthThen I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. I saw the Holy city the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, Look! God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.
He who was seated on the throne said, I am making everything new! Then he said, write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.
He said to me, "It is done I am the Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars-they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.
The first death
The second death
(The fiery Lake already has the beast, the dragon, the false prophet, those who took the mark of the beast, now those who practice the magic arts, idolaters, liars, etc... well be consigned to it to.)
In the New Testament
It is appointed to every man to die.
But their is a second death but not for everyone.
The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb
One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls of the seven last plagues came and said to me, Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.
And he carried me away in the spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem coming down out of heaven from God. It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. It has a great high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates, On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.
The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates, and its walls. The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia in length, and as wide and high as it is long. The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits thick. The wall was made of jasper.
(John says he heard a voice and he saw (him on the throne) from the waist down the precious stone of Jasper)
The city pure gold, as pure as glass.
The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone.
The first foundation was jasper,
the second sapphire, the third agate,
the fourth emerald,
the fifth onyx,
the sixth ruby,
the seventh chrysolite,
the eighth beryl,
the ninth topaz,
the tenth turquoise,
the eleventh jacinth,
and the twelfth amethyst,
The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.
(The fine and expensive stones reveals this city will be unbreakable, durable, costly, and radiant, God's throne is similar to it. He has a rainbow over his throne, he has the living creatures. This new city comes out of God. It is also filled with his glory.)
I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. The nations will walk by its lights, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it, On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb's book of life.
(It is filled with beauty. In this city there is no temple but God is the temple.)
Today we say we are IN CHRIST, we move, live, and have our being. We are one with him if we have his Holy Spirit. We can be joined to him. To fellowship with him, so we say we are IN CHRIST JESUS, Having one mind, one agenda.
The Holy Spirit Dwells inside of us today,
but in this image it appears like we will dwell in him.
(We will live in God)
Clues I see:
There is no need for the sun
It is radiant
It has angels at the twelve gates
God is the TEMPLE
Jesus the Lamb is the TEMPLE
The city comes out of God
It has precious stones like the throne of God.
Today we say we are the temple of the Holy spirit...It reads like we are going dwell in God. He will be our temple. Instead of him being so far away he will be close to us in the new city.
Have a great Day!
