Happy Sunday

Psalms 143
a psalm of David.

Lord, hear my prayer,
listen to my cry for mercy;
in your faithfulness and righteousness
come to my relief.
Do not bring your servant into judgement,
for no one living is righteous before you.
The enemy pursues me,
he crushes me to the ground;
he makes me dwell in the darkness like those long dead.
So my spirit grows faith within me;
my heart within me is dismayed.
I remember the days of long ago;
I mediate on all your works
and consider what your hands have done.
I spread out my hands to you;
I thirst for you like a parched land.
Answer me quickly, Lord;
my spirit fails.
Do  not hide your face from me;
or I will be like those who go down to the pit.
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love,
for I have put my trust in you.
Show me the way I should go,
for to you I entrust my life.
Rescue me from my enemies, Lord,
for I hide myself in you.
Teach me to do your will,
for you are my God;
may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.
For your name's sake, Lord, preserve my life,
in your righteousness, bring me out of trouble.
In your unfailing love, silence my enemies;
destroy all my foes,
for I am your servant.

David in the cave
1 Samuel 22:1, He left Gath and he escaped to the cave of Adullam. When his brothers and his father's household heard about it, they went down to him there.

2 Samuel 23:13, During harvest time, three of the thirty chief warriors came down to the cave of Adullam.

Acts 8
Phillip and the Ethiopian

Phillip in Samaria....

Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, Go south to the road-the desert road-that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza. So he started out, and on his way met an Ethiopian eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of the Kandake (which means queen of the Ethiopians). This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, and on his way home he was sitting in his chariot reading the Book of Isaiah the prophet. The Spirit told Philip, "Go to that Chariot and stay near it."

Ethiopia
Ethiopia is a landlocked country in East Africa. It shares borders with Eritrea to the north, Djibouti to the northeast, Somalia to the east, Kenya to the south, South Sudan to the west and Sudan to the northwest.
Eunuch refers to a man in some sort of service to a ruler, doesn't mean he was castrated. Luke calls him a very important official or important person in his country.

Then Philip ran up to the Chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. "Do you understand what you are reading?" Philip asked. How can I, "He said, unless someone explains it to me? So he invited Phillip to come up and sit with him. This is the passage of Scripture the eunuch was reading:

"He was led like a sheep to the
slaughter,
and as a lamb before its shearer is
silent,
so he did not open his mouth.
In his humiliation he was deprived of
justice.
Who can speak of his
descendants?
For his life was taken from the
earth.

The eunuch asked Philip, "Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else? Then Philip began with that very passage of Scripture and told him the good news about Jesus. As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, 'Look, here is water. What can stand in the way of my being baptized? And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Phillip and the eunuch went down into the water and Phillip baptized him. When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but he went on his way rejoicing. Phillip however appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.

Have a great day!
