 Happy Sabbath

"Remember the Sabbath and keep it holy"

I will sleep.

I will pray.

I will eat.

I will pray.

What say ye?

(Old testament talk)

How do you spend the Sabbath?

(Modern talk)

May God inspire you today.  Give your followers something good to do today. Remember to "Take captivity captive." Whomever or whatever wants to take you captive take it captive. Whatever controls you enslaves you. What you control you can over bring to Jesus. Good leaders are all around us. But dont allow the enemy or a person who does not follow God to put their yoke on you. By caring what they think. Or by listening to what they say. You tell them to listen to you. You lead them in the way they should go. Life is mental and the strong cast the devil out. Sharpen your mind with the bible. Let God move you not a person. People should control themselves not other people. Physical or mental slavery is designed to control and break the person but God can destroy the yoke. Dont be unequally yoke. Dont be yoke with a person who thinks bad. Dont be yoked with people who think crazy. But be yoked with Jesus. His yoke is easy and his burden light. Dont let people yoke you with them especially those who dont know God or think they know God. Their burdens are heavy. They criticized and destroy. They tell you what to do but won't lift a finger to help you. The bag lady didn't get all those heavy bags out of space. She got them from people. She needed to return the load or bags to the people that give them to her. Heavy burdens come from bad relationships, listening to garbage. God doesn't give you baggage or burdens. Stop listening to people who speak evil. The devil tries to speak to you through people, music, circumstances and the battle ground is in your mind. It's all in the mind. If you dont mind it. It dont matter. If you mind it. It matters to you. This is just something I learned in my own life and I have lots of testimonials about how I listened to trash all day. The negative things left over in my life from failed relationships. The burdens people tried to put on me. Burdens sometimes are other people problems we carry. Why? Or things you heard and carried. Dont mind it. Dont think it. Dont say it. It will not matter. The enemy is shut down because he created it and we mind it. Thinking on it. So this is Just my own life lessons. I hope its helpful.

Jeremiah 35

The Rekabites

This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord during the reign of Jehoiakim son of Josiah king of Judah:  “Go to the Rekabite family and invite them to come to one of the side rooms of the house of the Lord and give them wine to drink.”

So I went to get Jaazaniah son of Jeremiah, the son of Habazziniah, and his brothers and all his sons—the whole family of the Rekabites.  I brought them into the house of the Lord, into the room of the sons of Hanan son of Igdaliah the man of God. It was next to the room of the officials, which was over that of Maaseiah son of Shallum the doorkeeper.  Then I set bowls full of wine and some cups before the Rekabites and said to them, “Drink some wine.”

But they replied, “We do not drink wine, because our forefather Jehonadab son of Rekab gave us this command: ‘Neither you nor your descendants must ever drink wine. Also you must never build houses, sow seed or plant vineyards; you must never have any of these things, but must always live in tents. Then you will live a long time in the land where you are nomads.’  We have obeyed everything our forefather Jehonadab son of Rekab commanded us. Neither we nor our wives nor our sons and daughters have ever drunk wine  or built houses to live in or had vineyards, fields or crops. We have lived in tents and have fully obeyed everything our forefather Jehonadab commanded us.  But when Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon invaded this land, we said, ‘Come, we must go to Jerusalem to escape the Babylonian and Aramean armies.’ So we have remained in Jerusalem.”

The commandment and their escape.

THE RECHABITES.

According to my source the Rechabites were Members of a family descended from Hammath, the progenitor of the house of Rechab; otherwise known as the Kenites (I Chron. ii. 55), who were the descendants of Hobab (Jethro), the father-in-law of Moses (Judges iv. 11). In Jeremiah (xxxv.) it is recorded that the prophet took some Rechabites into the Temple and offered them wine to drink, and that they declined on the ground that Jehonadab, son of Rechab, their ancestor, had commanded them not to drink wine or other strong drink, or to live in houses, or to sow seed, or to plant vineyards, and had enjoined them to dwell in tents all their days. Jeremiah used this fidelity of the Rechabites to their principles as an object-lesson in his exhortations to his contemporaries.

Jehonadab appears at an earlier point in the Bible as the companion of King Jehu when he slaughtered the prophets of Baal (comp. II Kings x. 15, 23). Jehonadab was apparently a champion of the worship of Yhwh as against that of Baal. After the Exile Malchiah, the Rechabite ruler of the district of Beth-haccerem, built a portion of the walls of Jerusalem (Neh. iii. 14, 15). In I Chron. (ii. 55) it is stated that certain people of Jabez in Judah were "the Kenites that came of Hammath, the father of the house of Rechab." It is clear from these passages that the Rechabites were a people who endeavored to resist the customs of settled life in Palestine by maintaining the nomadic ideal; that they existed at different times in both the Northern and Southern Kingdoms; that they were especially interested in the worship of Yhwh; and that the Chronicler connects them with the Kenites.

It is the idea they resisted the temptation to live as the others did in the land. We are not called to follow the world. Popular people. People who have great wealth but we called to resist the urge to follow their lifestyles. It makes us a people unto God instead of following after what is popular. It means do what you feel is right but don't do things because a famous person is doing it. Do it because you have peace from God about it.

Then the word of the Lord came to Jeremiah, saying: “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: Go and tell the people of Judah and those living in Jerusalem, ‘Will you not learn a lesson and obey my words?’ declares the Lord.  ‘Jehonadab son of Rekab ordered his descendants not to drink wine and this command has been kept. To this day they do not drink wine, because they obey their forefather’s command. But I have spoken to you again and again, yet you have not obeyed me.  Again and again I sent all my servants the prophets to you. They said, “Each of you must turn from your wicked ways and reform your actions; do not follow other gods to serve them. Then you will live in the land I have given to you and your ancestors.” But you have not paid attention or listened to me. The descendants of Jehonadab son of Rekab have carried out the command their forefather gave them, but these people have not obeyed me.’

“Therefore this is what the Lord God Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Listen! I am going to bring on Judah and on everyone living in Jerusalem every disaster I pronounced against them. I spoke to them, but they did not listen; I called to them, but they did not answer.’”

Then Jeremiah said to the family of the Rekabites, “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘You have obeyed the command of your forefather Jehonadab and have followed all his instructions and have done everything he ordered.’  Therefore this is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Jehonadab son of Rekab will never fail to have a descendant to serve me.’”

Have a great day!
