Psalm 86 

A Prayer of David

Hear me, Lord, and answer me, 

for I am poor and needy. 
Guard my life, for I am faithful to you; 

save your servant who trusts in you. 
You are my God; have mercy on me, 

Lord, for I call to you all day long. 

Bring joy to your servant, Lord, 

for I put my trust in you. 

You, Lord, are forgiving and good, 

abounding in love to all who call to you. 

Hear my prayer, Lord; 

listen my cry for mercy. 

When I am in distress, I call to you, 

because you answer me. 

Among the gods there is none like you, Lord; 

no need can compare with yours. 
All nations you have made 

will come and worship before you, 

Lord; they will bring glory to 

your name. 

For you are great and do marvelous 

deeds; you alone are God. 

Teach me your way, Lord, 

that I may rely on your faithfulness; 

give me an undivided heart 

that I may fear your name. 

I will praise you, Lord my God, with all my heart; 

I will glorify your name forever.

For great is your love toward me; 

you have delivered me from the depths, 

from the realm of the dead. 

Arrogant foes are attacking me, O God; 

ruthless people are trying to kill me--

they have no regard for you. 
But you , Lord are compassionate and gracious

God, slow to anger, abounding in love

and faithfulness. Turn to me and 

mercy on me; show your strength

n behalf of  your servant; 

save me, because I serve you 

just as my mother did. 
Give me a sign of your goodness, 

that my enemies may see it and be put to shame, 

for you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me. 

John 8

Dispute Over Who Jesus Is

Once more Jesus said to them, "I am going away, and you will look for me, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come" This made the Jews ask, "Will he kill himself? Is that why he says, Where I go, you cannot come. But he continued, "You are from below; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. If I told you that you would die in your sins; if you do not believe that I am he, you will indeed die in your sins." 

Who are you? They asked. 

"Just what I have been telling you from the beginning," Jesus replied, I have much to say in judgement of you. But he who sent me is trustworthy, and what I have heard from him I tell the world." 

They didnot understand that he was telling them about his Father. So Jesus said, "When you have lifted up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am he and that I do nothing on my own but speak just what the Father has taught me. The one who sent me is with me, he has not left me along, for I always do what pleases him." Even as he spoke many believed in him.
