June 4, 2020, Psalms 85, John

🙋Good Morning!

Psalms 85
to the Chief Musician.
A Psalm of the sons of Korah.

New International Version (NIV)
Psalm 85 New International Version

You, Lord, showed favor to your land;
    you restored the fortunes of Jacob.
 You forgave the iniquity of your people
    and covered all their sins.
You set aside all your wrath
    and turned from your fierce anger.

 Restore us again, God our Savior,
    and put away your displeasure toward us.
 Will you be angry with us forever?
    Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
 Will you not revive us again,
    that your people may rejoice in you?
Show us your unfailing love, Lord,
    and grant us your salvation.

 I will listen to what God the Lord says;
    he promises peace to his people, his faithful servants—
    but let them not turn to folly.
 Surely his salvation is near those who fear him,
    that his glory may dwell in our land.

 Love and faithfulness meet together;
    righteousness and peace kiss each other.
 Faithfulness springs forth from the earth,
    and righteousness looks down from heaven.
 The Lord will indeed give what is good,
    and our land will yield its harvest.
 Righteousness goes before him
    and prepares the way for his steps.

John 8
John 8 New International Version (NIV)
 An Adulterous Woman

 but Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

 At dawn he appeared again in the temple courts, where all the people gathered around him, and he sat down to teach them.  The teachers of the law and the Pharisees brought in a woman caught in adultery. They made her stand before the group  and said to Jesus, “Teacher, this woman was caught in the act of adultery.  In the Law Moses commanded us to stone such women. Now what do you say?”  They were using this question as a trap, in order to have a basis for accusing him.

But Jesus bent down and started to write on the ground with his finger.  When they kept on questioning him, he straightened up and said to them, “Let any one of you who is without sin be the first to throw a stone at her.”  Again he stooped down and wrote on the ground.

 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

 “No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

She is definitely wrong. She got caught.They saw it with their own eyes. They want to stone her. They feel so much anger towards her sin.

Emotions make us human. It is our reaction to something (good or bad). Wikipedia calls it a biological state associated with the nervous system and it is caused by neurophysiological changes caused by behavior, thoughts, and our responses to a degree of pleasure or displeasure. Do you think we can catch another person's good mood? Can you catch another person's bad mood? I would say yes. I like to be around people that bring out the best in me. I want to go places that bring out the best in me. But there are things that make our conditions worst. Who wants to be around insults all day? Who wants to be abused? Who wants to be around negative people? Think about a person with horrible behavior. How you treat them determines how they feel. How they feel determines what they do.😢😫😬😵😴😳😲😰😥😤😣😚😑😆😅😖😁😁😁😭😮😰😲😊😀😉😬😁😎

God does not agree with people being bad but God does not mistreat people.

It is possible for a person to be wrong and yet you can treat them right. Treating them right does not subtract their wrongness.

I knew a lady who was mistreated by a man. She told everyone what he had done. She also told me. I felt bad and I agreed that he was wrong. But she became angry with me because I did not want to participate with the group that was mistreating him because of what he had done. As a Christian woman I felt like she was wrong. But she could not see herself.

Bad + bad = bad

Ugly + Ugly = Ugly

darkness + darkness =  darkness

fool + fool= two fools

How does God make you feel?
