God filled the book of Isaiah with beautiful promises. It starts off with God expressing his displeasure with the peoples lack of righteousness and justice. Some readers may have turned away at that point but if you stayed the course with strength he will bless you in the end. He will teach you and he will be faithful to bless you greater than he chastens you. How beautiful is that.
Isaiah 62
King James Version
For Zion sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem sake I will not rest, until thy righteousness go forth as brightness, and thy salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth.
And the Gentiles shall see thy righteousness, and all the kings thy glory: and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the Lord shall name.
(A long time ago people were called by their conditions. For example Peter meant Rock. His name meant he would be strong in the Lord. He would be the rock upon which Jesus would build his Church. Isaiah name means, the Lord is my Salvation and remember the book opens up and even Isaiah says I am a man undone, I am a man of unclean lips and I live among a people with unclean lips. God touches him and he changes him. The man at the gate called beautiful was lame and far from beautiful, or what about the woman caught at in the act of adultery; this is how we know who she is. We easily forget her name we just know she is known as the woman caught in the act of adultery. Her name may have been Mary but people identified her by her sin. Today people might say that sick man or that crazy lady! But when your righteousness go forth it will burn like a lamp and God will give you a new name or we can say a better condition. The man at the gate called beautiful was healed so he is no longer the lame man but he is the healed man.)
Thou shalt also be a crown of glory in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of thy God.
Thou shalt no more be termed forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate; but thou shalt be called Hepizibah, and they land Belah; for the Lord Delighted in thee; and they land shall be married.
For as a young man married a virgin so shall they sons marry thee: and as the bridegroom rejoices over the bride, so shall they God rejoice over thee.
I have set watchmen upon thy walls O Jerusalem, which shall never hold their peace day nor night; ye that make mention of the Lord, Keep not silence.
And give him no rest, till he establish, and till he make Jerusalem a praise in the earth.
The Lord had sworn by his right hand, and by the arm of his strength, Surely I will no more give thy corn to be meat for thine enemies; and the sons of the stranger shall not drink thy wine, for the which thou hast laboured:
(The people worked hard but God allowed the enemy to enjoy all the benefits of their labor. When he blesses you we will get to see the benefits of our hard work instead of watching our enemies enjoy it.)
But they that gathered it shall eat it, and praise the Lord; and they that have brought it together shall drink it in the courts of my holiness.
Go through, go through the gates; prepare ye the way of the people; cast up, cast up the highway; gather out the stones; lift up a standard for the people.
Behold, the Lord hath proclaimed unto the end of the world, Say ye to the daughter of Zion, behold, thy salvation cometh; behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.
And they shall call them, The holy people, the redeemed of the Lord; and thou shalt be called, Sought out, A city not forsaken.
We talk a lot about people feeling depression in this dark season. I agree things are so hard but you can go through a dark season knowing that God is with you. However when God is against you; it feels like you are forsaken. There is no worse feeling on the earth than feeling forsaken by God. Just think about it when God is on your side you can take on anything; you can overcome; you are powerful you go on to conquer. But when the Lord is against you things will be miserable. When God turned away from his people it is a season of trouble. In the end we cry out because it hurts.
However..... may he make his face to shine upon us because things will be alright when he shines upon us.
Have a great day!
