GENESIS WAS AMAZING!

Perspective: as we read lets discover what God desires?

Let's look for some consistency in language. God purpose. What he says. Who he speaks to. Is it similar to Genesis? Or is it completely different? It matters because both are written by the same writer.

Joseph finds favor with the God. He thrives in a foreign land. How did Joseph get to Egypt? His brothers sold him into slavery. A famine brings Joseph to a position to help his family and all the families in Egypt. But at the end of Genesis a new famine causes all the people to lose their land. It is sold to Pharaoh. This puts Pharaoh in a position to have the advantage over God's people. The land is his land. Things will go his way. Think about America some people are owners others are not. Who has the power? The people get oppressed as a new leader takes over. He sees them growing. He wants to stop them. 

I want to see him........

Let's see God. Let’s read a beautiful story. Learn from the circumstances. Let's look for God's perspective? What position will he take? 

PHARAOH IS THE OWNER OF ALL THE LAND.

THIS MAKES HIM  LIKE A  LORD OVER THE PEOPLE. THE MAN IN CHARGE. 

GOD WANTS TO GIVE THEM THEIR OWN LAND. BUT THINGS HAVE CHANGED WITH A NEW LEADER. JOSEPH AND HIS BROTHERS ARE GONE. (THE SEED IS GROWING BUT IT IS A NEW GENERATION) THEY MIGHT NEED TO LEARN GOD. 

DID GOD INCREASE THEM?

YES. IN EXODUS THE ISREALITES ARE INCREASED IN NUMBERS. THE PROMISE TO ABRAHAM WAS HIS SEED WOULD BE AS MANY AS THE STARS IN THE SKY. AS WE READ LETS REMEMBER GENESIS. WE KNOW WHY THEY GO TO EGYPT 🇪🇬.  BUT THINGS CHANGED AFTER JOSEPH AND HIS BROTHERS.

The English name Exodus comes from the Ancient Greek: ἔξοδος, romanized: éxodos, meaning 'departure' or 'going out' (from ἐξ-, ex-, 'out' and ὁδός, hodós, 'path', 'road'), which is the name of the book in the Septuagint. It describes the main event of the book, the departure of the Israelites from slavery in Egypt.

Consistent with the naming convention for the Torah, in Hebrew the book's title is שְׁמוֹת, shemōt, "Names", from the beginning words of the text: "These are the names of the sons of Israel" (Hebrew: וְאֵלֶּה שְׁמֹות בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל).

1. DO PEOPLE TREAT YOU RIGHT. WHEN AN UNSAVED PERSON IS IN CHARGE THINGS ARE DIFFICULT. ITS HARD TO SERVE GOD WHEN YOU ARE OPPRESSED. BEING UNDER A BAD LEADER IS HARSH. 

WHAT HAPPENS?

You serve the purpose of what is over you. God wants to bring them out so they can serve him. So they can worship him. 

EXODUS 1

Israel’s Suffering in Egypt

1Now these are the names of the children of Israel who came to Egypt; each man and his household came with Jacob: 2Reuben, Simeon, Levi, and Judah; 3Issachar, Zebulun, and Benjamin; 4Dan, Naphtali, Gad, and Asher. 5All those who were descendants of Jacob were seventy persons (for Joseph was in Egypt already). 6And Joseph died, all his brothers, and all that generation. 7But the children of Israel were fruitful and increased abundantly, multiplied and grew exceedingly mighty; and the land was filled with them.

8Now there arose a new king over Egypt, who did not know Joseph. 9And he said to his people, “Look, the people of the children of Israel are more and mightier than we; 10come, let us deal shrewdly with them, lest they multiply, and it happen, in the event of war, that they also join our enemies and fight against us, and so go up out of the land.” 11Therefore they set taskmasters over them to afflict them with their burdens. And they built for Pharaoh supply cities, Pithom and Raamses. 12But the more they afflicted them, the more they multiplied and grew. And they were in dread of the children of Israel. 13So the Egyptians made the children of Israel serve with rigor. 14And they made their lives bitter with hard bondage—in mortar, in brick, and in all manner of service in the field. All their service in which they made them serve was with rigor.

15Then the king of Egypt spoke to the Hebrew midwives, of whom the name of one was Shiphrah and the name of the other Puah; 16and he said, “When you do the duties of a midwife for the Hebrew women, and see them on the birthstools, if it is a son, then you shall kill him; but if it is a daughter, then she shall live.” 17But the midwives feared God, and did not do as the king of Egypt commanded them, but saved the male children alive. 18So the king of Egypt called for the midwives and said to them, “Why have you done this thing, and saved the male children alive?”

19And the midwives said to Pharaoh, “Because the Hebrew women are not like the Egyptian women; for they are lively and give birth before the midwives come to them.”

20Therefore God dealt well with the midwives, and the people multiplied and grew very mighty. 21And so it was, because the midwives feared God, that He provided households for them.

22So Pharaoh commanded all his people, saying, “Every son who is born you shall cast into the river, and every daughter you shall save alive.”

HE DESIRED TO KILL THE BABY BOYS. (WHY) WE ALL KNOW. NO STRONG FAMILIES. NO AUTHORITY FIGURES. ETC....

THE GIRLS Being stronger. How will they get along. The order is shook up. A girl was not a threat. In today’s world God has great women leaders but at this time. Women raise the kids. We see them giving birth. Multiplying and raising the kids. 

THE DAUGHTERS COULD LIVE.

IS THIS TRUE TODAY OR IN PAST TIMES? 

TODAY THERE IS A GREAT ATTACK ON OUR SONS.

OUR DAUGHTERS ARE SUPER STRONG.

BUT LOOK AT HOW PHAROAH THINKS. HE DOESN'T WANT STRONG MEN. HE WILL GO AS FAR AS KILLING THEM. BREAK UP STRONG FAMILIES. 

#1 HE ATTACKS THE SONS BEFORE THEY ARE EVEN BORN. 

WHO are the 12 tribes today?

Online information The Lost Tribes: The northern kingdom was conquered by Assyria in 722 BCE, resulting in the dispersal and traditional "loss" of ten of the tribes, while Judah and Benjamin remained the core of surviving Jewish identity.

They are lost! Where are the 10 tribes? 

The Two Kingdoms: Following the reign of King Solomon, the tribes split into a northern kingdom called Israel (ten tribes) and a southern kingdom called Judah (Judah and Benjamin)

Modern scholarship describes the Israelites as emerging from indigenous Canaanite populations and other peoples of the ancient Near East.

Kingdoms rose and fell. ( it makes sense to me. Joseph and Benjamin) the other 10 sons were closer. They had a different mother. But the two tribes called the southern kingdom would be Israel today. The promise seed. But it’s so unique the other brothers. But as we read exodus we might find some more historical facts or clues. 

Ancient Canaanites looked like modern people of the Near East.
