 Happy Monday

Perspective: As you think about this event think about the times. Houses were made from mud. They draw water from the river. Civilization was not advanced as it is today. The signs and wonders. We don’t see it in the same way today but they still happen!

Why did God use those types of signs?

Why did those things happen?

Do you believe? 

He sent Moses to tell Pharaoh to free his people. However the Egyptians did not believe in God. They believed in many gods. They also were heavy into magic. I am going to list some historical facts but right now I just want to engage my critical thinking skills. If Moses had just spoken to Pharaoh would he listen? We know he would not RESPECT GODS WORDS. 

If you dealing with a man in control of people. A Pharaoh. A man that thinks he’s god. People fear him. You not going to show up quoting scripture. Think about freedom fighters. They had to show people by having actions and faith in God to move.

We respect his word. But so many non believers don’t. They laugh at it. They think it’s made up but they will believe in their false gods. They have a level that think on. It’s things that will force them to say. God is real. I better listen to him. It can’t come from people but it had to come from God.

The things he did only a real god can do. If people can do it it’s not a god. It had to abnormal and almost impossible for a person to do. 

How do we know whose God was real? Pharaoh doesn’t believe words. He mocks Moses. He laughs. He has guards, an army, magic, and so many reasons not to listen and obey. 

Moses did the things God told him; so Pharaoh would listen. He was hardened. Hard headed and stubborn. He believed he was a god. He believed in was in charge of the Israelites.

What would make Pharaoh listen? Things and circumstances on his level. When you deal with hardened people sometimes it’s on their level of understanding. When he felt powerful he did mean things to The Israelites. So God performed the plagues to get his attention. As we keep reading realize this was so serious. The Israelites were under harsh circumstances. Someone had to be greater than Pharaoh. Pharaoh would not listen to preaching, teaching, or rational arguments about respecting other human beings. He had to encounter God in a way that forced him to say God meant what he said. 

Let the people go. 

It seems harsh but it’s only harsh because Pharaoh was hardened and cruel.
