Joshua 10

Joshua is moving towards the promise land.

Previous events

1. Jericho is fallen.

2. AI is fallen

3. A peace treaty with Gibeonite is made

4. The other cities have heard about the children of Israel; they hear about the sea and the defeat of Jericho and AI.

5. The news is traveling fast.

6. The other cities are afraid and they decide to join together in order to defeat the children of Israel but first they want to attack Gibeon for making a peace treaty with Israel.

Questions

1. Do you see God?

2. God is fulfilling his promise.

3. God shows himself strong.

4. Joshua name is spreading through the land.

5. How does Joshua handle challenges?

6. The people are submissive.

7. God is definitely involved. Its not so much they are strong but God is giving them victory after victory.

8. What is real victory?

Chapter 10 begins with the King of Adoni-Zekek. He is King over Jerusalem. He dislikes Gibeon for making a peace treaty with Israel. The bible says it was an important city. It describes it as a royal city. It also says they had good fighters. The Amorite King did not want Israel friends with Gibeon. So he goes to the king of Hebron, King of Jarmuth, the King of lachish, and the king of Eglon. He asked them to attack Gibeon with him.
His desire is that they all stand against Israel together.











1. Gibeon asked for Joshua's help
2. The lord gave them the victory
3. Joshua spoke and God listened
4. Joshua told the Sun to stand still
5. He told the moon to stop
6. The five Amorite Kings are killed
7. The children of Israel attacked Libnah, lachish, Eglon, Hebron and conquer those cities as well.
8. The bible says Joshua subdued the region
9. He was successful because God gave him the victory. It is impossible to have real victory without God.

Many people are surprise at all the war in Joshua. I think its definitely a book filled with battles but it was necessary. Joshua is not provoking war but in order to get to their land the enemy has to be removed. I want to also note some of those cities were very wicked. Wickedness comes from Satan they would have raised war anyway.
