Good Morning
May God bless you and your family today. May God make his face shine upon us in this very very very dark world sometimes its hard to see the light. The devil wants to blind our minds but today we are exposing our minds to God. Open hearts and minds.
Chapter 5
Now when all the Amorite Kings west of the Jordan and all the Canaanite Kings along the coast heard how the Lord had dried up the Jordan before the Israelites until they crossed over, their hearts melted in fear and they no longer had the courage to face the Israelites.
At that time the Lord said to Joshua, make flint knifes and circumcise the Israelites again, So Joshua made flint knives and circumcised the Israelites at Gibeath Haaraloth.
Now this why he did so:
All those who came out of Egypt--all the men of military age--died in the wilderness on the way after leaving Egypt. All the people that came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness during the journey from Egypt had not. The Israelites had moved about in the wilderness forty years until all the men who were of military age when they left Egypt had died, since they had not obeyed the Lord.
(It is moments of movement where God speaks to Joshua and we see that God had moments with the people; it says that they had not obeyed the Lord. They had a personal relationship with God. This is where everyday people step in. Sometimes we focus on Joshua and Moses but some of us are everyday people we sit among a group of believers. We are important and God wants us. Gods people do follow a good leader. It is very important to look at the people in the bible. One man gets instructions but it took 400 men to go into Jericho. It doesn't say fear came upon them when they heard Joshua was coming but it says the children of Israel cause them to fear. It was a large group. A leader does not move alone but I believe that God has an order. He does not need to give instructions to fifty people. That is chaos.
For the Lord has sworn to them that they would not see the land he had solemnly promised their ancestors to give us, a land flowing with milk and honey. So he raised up their sons in their place, and these were the ones Joshua circumcised.
The generation he wanted to use would not obey him so the bible says God raised up their sons. I think this shows a determination from God. I don't think God is ever trying to keep something from us but he is always trying to get something to us. I see people that found it hard to believe and obey and when its hard to believe you will not obey. I pray that I obey God this year. I desire too. I want too. I also believe that we have more help than they had. We have a holy spirit that can will and move in us.

They were still uncircumcised because they had not been circumcised on the way. And after the whole nation had been circumcised, they remained where they were in camp until they were healed. Then the Lord said to Joshua, Today I have rolled away the reproach of Egypt from you. So the place has been called Gilgal to this day. On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover, The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land; unleavened bread; and roasted grain. The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; where there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate the produce of Canaan.
Food is very important. The more money you have the better you eat. In the wilderness they were eating the same thing. Some of them were not thankful and complained. Some people joke about homemade processed meat sandwiches and eggs. However when you get a little resources you can afford other finer treats. So the promise land was a place where they were going to eat and live good. It was God's desire for them. I am sure the wilderness was a limited place. I love good food. I like a lamb chop instead of a corn dog. I am sure others feel the same way. We want nice drinks instead of only kool-aid. I believe it was also a place where they would own livestock and this would create a means of money and living stability. It is a land where animals can be breed.
The Fall of Jericho
Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword, in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, Are you for us or for our enemies? Neither, He replied, but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come. Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, "what message does my Lord have for his servant? The commander of the Lord's army replied, Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy. And Joshua did so.
