THE BOOK OF HEBREWS
Who is the writer?

What does God want us to walk away with.

Background
 Scholars believe it was written for Jewish Christians who lived in Jerusalem.
Its purpose was to exhort Christians to persevere in the face of persecution.

According to https://www.biblica.com/resources/scholar-notes/niv-study-bible/intro-to-hebrews/, The writer of this letter does not identify himself, but he was obviously well known to the original recipients. Though for some 1,200 years (from c. a.d. 400 to 1600) the book was commonly called “The Epistle of Paul to the Hebrews,” there was no agreement in the earliest centuries regarding its authorship. Since the Reformation it has been widely recognized that Paul could not have been the writer. There is no disharmony between the teaching of Hebrews and that of Paul’s letters, but the specific emphases and writing styles are markedly different. Contrary to Paul’s usual practice, the author of Hebrews nowhere identifies himself in the letter—except to indicate that he was a man (see note on 11:32). Moreover, the statement “This salvation, which was first announced by the Lord, was confirmed to us by those who heard him” (2:3), indicates that the author had neither been with Jesus during his earthly ministry nor received special revelation directly from the risen Lord, as had Paul (Gal 1:11–12)."

HEBREWS CHAPTER 1

His Son

1 In the past God spoke to our ancestors through the prophets at many times and in various ways,
2 but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed heir of all things, and through whom also he made the universe.
3 The Son is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven.
4 So he became as much superior to the angels as the name he has inherited is superior to theirs.

The Son Superior to Angels

5 For to which of the angels did God ever say,

“You are my Son;
    today I have become your Father”[a]?

Or again,

“I will be his Father,
    and he will be my Son”[b]?

6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says,

“Let all God’s angels worship him.”[c]

7 In speaking of the angels he says,

“He makes his angels spirits,
    and his servants flames of fire.”[d]

8 But about the Son he says,

“Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever;
    a scepter of justice will be the scepter of your kingdom.

9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness;
    therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions
    by anointing you with the oil of joy.”[e]

10 He also says,

“In the beginning, Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth,
    and the heavens are the work of your hands.
11 They will perish, but you remain;
    they will all wear out like a garment.
12 You will roll them up like a robe;
    like a garment they will be changed.
But you remain the same,
    and your years will never end.”[f]

13 To which of the angels did God ever say,

“Sit at my right hand
    until I make your enemies
    a footstool for your feet”[g]?

14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?

The Son of God
I saw a video on You-tube and a man asked when did Jesus ever call himself God in the bible. It was a tough question. For a moment he tricks people but you have to think about it. His argument was Jesus is not God. This is big among lots of unbelievers because they don't want to listen to Jesus teachings or call him Master. Of course we who believe just believe because God has called us but for them Jesus being God is questionable. In the Muslim faith they honor Jesus as a great man but not as God.  When I read the passages in the bible; I see the Father saying among many witnesses that, Jesus is above everything. He is equal to God. Who testify to themselves. Jesus has others who testify to him. He also sits at the right hand of God. God has elevated him and he has given him all power, and  authority, so he is God.  He is humble in the New Testament. He does not brag or boast to tell everyone who he is; but he is who he is. I think the Lord lived by actions more than words. A lot of men said, "who is this man" or "what manner of man is this." It was almost like he wants us to partake of him. If I had a boss and he gave me all power and authority to do as I please; and he put all things under me what is my position? I am just as powerful because I have the boss within arms length. Another reason I believe he is God is he has God's DNA. Lastly Jesus have to be God to love mankind. How many of us love other humans like he do? Based on his love and the fact that he died indicates  he . is God. It's really a faith thing. Believe or choose not to. But I hope you do.
