June 28, 2020, Psalms 108, Revelation 9 Happy Sunday

Happy Sunday!

Psalms 108

My heart, O God is steadfast;
I will sing and make music with all my soul.
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn,
I will praise you, Lord, Among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
For great is your love, higher than the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let you glory be over all the earth.
Save us and help us with your right hand,
that those you love may be delivered.
God has spoken from his sanctuary
"In triumph I will parcel out Shechem
and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.
Gilead is mine, Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim is my helmet,
Judah is my septer.
Moab is my washbasin,
on Edom I toss my sandal;
over Philistia I shout in Trumph."
Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
Is is not you, God, you have rejected us
and no longer go out with our armies?
Give us aid against the enemy,
for human help is worthless.
With God we will gain the victory,
and he will trample down our enemies.

(Ephraim is my helmet)
Fruitful

The meaning of the name Ephraim is: Fruitful. Famous bearer: one of the Biblical Old Testament Joseph's sons.

Judah is my scepter (or to give a scepter to; invest with authority.)

The word Judah comes from the verb לְהודות which simply means “to thank.” In the context of the Hebrew Bible, such thanks are synonymous not just with gratitude, but with praise. In fact, there was a particular sacrifice called “The Sacrifice of Thanksgiving.” In the Temple in Jerusalem,...

Moab is my washbasin (or wash bowl)

 Easton's Bible Dictionary - Moab the seed of the father, or, according to others, the desirable land, the eldest son of Lot ( Genesis 19:37 ), of incestuous birth. Used to denote the people of Moab ( Numbers 22:3-14 ; Judg. 3:30 ; 2 Sam 8:2 ; Jeremiah 48:11 Jeremiah 48:13 ).

On Edom I toss my sandals

Edom means Red, earthy, of blood
The Hebrew word Edom means "red", and the Hebrew Bible relates it to the name of its founder, Esau, the elder son of the Hebrew patriarch Isaac, because he was born "red all over". As a young adult, he sold his birthright to his brother Jacob for "red pottage". The Tanakh describes the Edomites as descendants of Esau.

over Philistia I shout in Trumph."

 The name Palestine or Philistia (פלשת) and the name Philistine (פלשתי) are pretty much the same, and Philistine literally means One Of Palestine / Philistia. The Philistines are descendants of the Casluhim, who were sons of Mizraim , son of Ham, son of Noah (Genesis 10:14).

The Earth is the Lord's

The land belongs to God. God claims Edom, Judah, Philistine and all the surrounding cities. He owes the trees, the stars, the dirt, the sun, the moon, the animals, etc.  It all belongs to God but But God can give it to any group he desires.

Revelation 9
The fifth angel sounded his trumpet,
and I saw a star that had fallen from the sky to the earth.

(The seven stars in chapter one represent the seven angels. The fallen star is not actually a star but an angel; maybe this angel is bad for example in the gospels Jesus says, "I watch Satan fall like lightening." Lightening moves fast; it is quicker than our eyes can see; we only see the flash.)

 What is a falling star and what causes it to fall?

The science of the falling star according to scientists is as follows a "falling star" or a "shooting star" has nothing at all to do with a star! These amazing streaks of light you can sometimes see in the night sky are caused by tiny bits of dust and rock called meteoroids falling into the Earth's atmosphere and burning up. The short-lived trail of light the burning meteoroid produces is called a meteor.

In this passage the trumpet is blown and this angel falls to the earth. He opens up the Abyss.

What does Abyss stand for?

 The word abyss simply means “a deep hole”—so deep that it seems bottomless or immeasurable. The word is often used in modern contexts to describe the sea. In the Bible and in Jewish theology, the Abyss is often a metaphorical reference to the place of evil spirits. Sometimes the Abyss is pictured as a deep or bottomless hole in the earth.

The star was given the key to the shaft of the Abyss. When he
opened the Abyss, smoke rose from it like the smoke from
a gigantic furnace. The sun and sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss. And out of the smoke locusts came down on the earth and were given power like that of scorpions of the earth. They were told not to harm the grass of the earth or any plant or tree, but only those people who did not have the seal of God on their foreheads. They were not allowed to kill them but only to torture them for five months. And the agony they suffered was like that of the sing of a scorpion  when it strikes. During those days people will seek death but will not find it; they will long to die, but death will elude them. The locusts looked like horses prepared for battled. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold, and their faces resembled human faces. Their hair was like women's hair, and their teeth were like lions teeth. They had breastplates like breastplates of iron, and the sound of their wings was like thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. They had tails with stingers, like scorpions, and in their tails they had the power to torment for five months.

We do not see angels. I do not think we will see these creatures or these torturers with our natural eyes (there are invisible things)  on the earth That is unique. Something to think about. I could be wrong but I am just thinking that these will be on the earth torturing people but you will not see them with your eyes. Then the passage says those that have the seal of God on our foreheads will not be harmed. Do you believe in God? I don't think we are going to understand what is happening on the earth. Why people are killing other people. Why is hate so strong in the hearts of people.  I think the description of this locusts tells us more about the nature of it. The breastplate of iron, the horse prepared for battle. How can you fight something like this? What war strategy can protect you? What army? What official? I would say God is safety.

Saved and Safe

They had as King over them the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abbadon and in Greek is Apollyon (that is, Destroyer).
The first woe is past; two other woes are yet to come.

The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns of the golden alter that is before God.

It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates. And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. I heard this number.

10,000 X 10,000 = 100,000,000
 That is a large troop.

The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur. A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths. The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.

The rest of mankind who were not killed by the plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, and wood idols that cannot see or hear or walk. Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

The things God wants people to repent from but people will not stop doing what they are doing. There is no hope for them. Maybe some people like stealing, maybe they enjoy worshiping demons. It is sad but the prophecy says they will not repent so these things will come pass.

Things to repent from

  1. murder
  2. sexual immorality
  3. thefts'
  4. demon worship
  5. idol worship
  6. magic arts
Have a great day!
