Acts 21
On to Jerusalem
After we had torn ourselves away from them, we put out to sea and sailed straight to Kos. The next day we went to Rhodes and from there to Patara. We found a ship crossing over to Phoenicia, we went on board and set sail. After sighting Cyprus and passing to the south of it, we sailed on to Syria.
We landed at Tyre, where our ship was to unload its cargo. We sought out the disciples there and stayed with them seven days. Though the Spirit they urged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem. When it was time to leave, we left and continued on our way. All of them, including wives and children, accompanied us out of the city, and there on the beach we knelt to pray. After saying goodbye to each other, we went board the ship, and they returned home.
We continued our voyage from Tyre and landed at Ptolemais, where we greeted the brothers and sisters and stayed with them for a day. Leaving the next day, we reached Caesarea and stayed at the house of Philip the evangelist, one of the seven. He had four unmarried daughter s who prophesied.
Philip was one of the converts that was scattered because of persecution, after Stephen's death. He also taught the Ethiopian and baptized him.
He had unmarried daughters whom prophesied during Paul and his companions stay. I wanted to point out the daughters because lots of people argue that Paul forbid women to speak. I think the passage most people use to support the idea is found in 1 Timothy 2:12, “Let a woman learn in silence with all submission. And I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man, but to be in silence. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression”
He uses the word learning and there were lots of disciples they were teaching and growing in the word of God. I do not think he is referring to a seasoned believer such as those women with Peter and the other disciples.
The second passage is found in 1 Corinthians 14:34-35, “Let your women keep silent in the churches, for they are not permitted to speak; but they are to be submissive, as the law also says. And if they want to learn something, let them ask their own husbands at home; for it is shameful for women to speak in church.”
He wants the woman to ask her Husband; this passage and the daughters who prophesy are inconsistent which means that we might not understand the circumstances or the group he was dealing with. He traveled lots of places making disciples.
Lots of bible passages says the apostles taught new believers and they had a concern for their growth it also says that at times Paul encouraged the disciples.
According to Farley Harry, this statement can be challenge because of passages that say other wise..Apostle Paul never said 'women should remain silent': scholars claim controversial passage was added later

'The discovery, which has been suggested by a number of other scholars previously, could explain Paul's self-contradiction where he apparently tells women to 'be silent' in chapter 14 after instructing them to prophesy in church in chapter 11.
The scholars note: 'This is important theologically since it offers a resolution to the notorious difficulty of reconciling v. 34-5 with Paul's many affirmations of women in vocal ministry and their equal standing with men in Christ.'
I like the article but I believe it is speaking about their learning or studying.
After we had been there a number of days, a prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. Coming over to us, he took Paul's belt, tied his own hands and feet with it and said, "Holy Spirit says, "In this way the Jewish leaders in Jerusalem will bind the owner of this belt and will hand him over to the Gentiles.
When we heard this, we and the people there pleaded with Paul not to go up to Jerusalem.
Do you think God keeps warning Paul of the hardship because he is giving him a choice?
Then Paul answered, "Why are you weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to bound, but also to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.
Paul has people begging him not to go.
When he would not be dissuaded, we gave up and said, "The Lord's will be done.
After this, we started on our way up to Jerusalem. Some of the disciples from Caesarea accompanied us and brought us to the home of Mnason, where we were to stay. He was a man from Cyprus one of the early disciples.
Proverbs 11 Cont..
Those who are kind benefit themselves,
but the cruel being ruin on themselves.
(b-attitudes, kind or cruel)
A wicked person earns deceptive wages,
but the one who sows righteousness reaps a sure reward.
Truly the righteous attain life,
but whoever pursues evil finds death.
The Lord detests those whose hearts are perverse,
but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.
Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished,
but those who are righteous will go free.
Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout
is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.
The desire of the righteous ends only in good,
but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.
One person gives freely, yet gains even more;
another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty.
A generous person will prosper;
whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.
People curse the one who hoards grain,
but they pray God’s blessing on the one who is willing to sell.
Whoever seeks good finds favor,
but evil comes to one who searches for it.
Those who trust in their riches will fall,
but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.
Whoever brings ruin on their family will inherit only wind,
and the fool will be servant to the wise.
The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life,
and the one who is wise saves lives.
If the righteous receive their due on earth,
how much more the ungodly and the sinner!
