Before Easter Sunday there was a good Friday, a dark Saturday, and a Bright Sunday Morning. He deserves our praise.

EX 15:6

Your right hand, Lord, was majestic in power. Your right hand, Lord, shattered the enemy.

Good Friday

The Testimony of John

John 13 Jesus Washes His Disciples Feet

It was just before the Passover Festival. Jesus knew that the hour had come for him to leave this world and go to the Father. Having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end. The evening meal was in progress, and the devil had already prompted Judas, the son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus.

Jesus knew that the Father had put all things under his power, and that he had come from God; so he got up from the meal, took off his outer clothing, and wrapped a towel around his waist. After that, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples feet, drying them with the towel that was wrapped around him.

He came to Simon Peter, who said to him, Lord, are you going to wash my feet?

Jesus replied, "You do not realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.

(His word is awesome; and the Lord is the one who makes things clean)

No, said Peter, you shall never wash my feet. Jesus answered, "Unless I wash you, you have not part with me.

Then, Lord, Simon Peter replied, "not just my feet but my hands and my head as well!

The psalms proclaims the writers desire for clean hands. "Wash me Lord and I shall be clean". In the book of Isaiah the angel cleans the prophets lips. King David declares to the Lord, let the words of mouth and mediation of my heart be acceptable in your site. This resurrection let us remember he washes and makes  things clean. We can be cleansed. I know some people struggle to believe it but we all need to be cleaned. I love that even Peter says well wash my head, my hands, and feet. We all need to be cleaned in order to have a part in him. I love that God allows us to come just as we are and it is true God never rejects anyone. He never despises us because of our sins or mistreats us because we are sinners or even judge us but he tells us this resurrection that he washes us in more than one way.

Jesus answered, "Those who have had a bath need only to wash their feet; their whole body is clean. And you are clean, though not every one of you. For he knew who was going to betray him, and that was why he said not every one was clean.

When he finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. "Do you understand what I have done for you?

  • Do we understand what he has done for us?
  • Every year I try to grab on to more and more
  • His word never loses its meaning or significance!
  • We see that the mind of God is deep and who can search or know his understanding?
He asked them. You call me Teacher and Lord, and rightly so.

For that is what I am.

Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet,

You also should wash one another's feet.

I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master, nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.

1. If I do it then you do it. This is the Lord's message. If I don't do it then you don't you do it; because you are not greater than me. A messenger is not greater than the master. Its beautiful how God puts a person in a beautiful position but he never gives us the right to do more than the example he left in the bible. On this earth we never come to place where we become so great we supersede his example. He removed his nice clothing and he washed feet.
2. The woman who anointed his feet in preparation for his death. She kneeled down and not only did she bowed she cleaned his feet.
3. A long time ago the King or Queen asked you to bow in submission and it meant your surrender to the person but Jesus being the mighty one he is; also washes their feet. The world cannot do this. The world will mock this. This is for those in Christ who understand that he did not make them bow and kiss his feet but he kneeled and washed his disciples feet. His own followers. He says, You call me Lord, and Teacher, that is rightly so; and look what I have just done for you.

Bless his Holy name, Please enjoy your Easter, because I am sure he would have wash our feet as well. I would wash his  but I am sure he  would reject it but he would wash ours. It is a sign of servanthood, commitment, and similar to or liken to surrender.

Now that you know these things, you will be blessed if you do them.

" I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen, But this is to fulfill this passage of Scripture; He who shared my bread has turned against me.

The scripture says the Devil put it in Judas mind to betray the Lord. What person in their right mind betrays God.

One day on  a Good Friday.......... He gave his life........

"I am telling you now before it happens, so that when it does happen you will believe that I am who I am. Very truly I tell you, whoever accepts anyone I send accepts me; and whoever accepts me accepts the one who sent me.

After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "Very truly I tell you, one of you is going to betray me.

His disciples stared at one another, at a loss to know which of them he meant.

1.  It was important to God to not broadcast what was happening it would have ruined the plan and Judas would have stopped acting out but God needed him to act out.  He says a servant is not above is master. Your situation cannot be deemed higher than the cross where something happens to you but you are greater than the Master.  He is troubled and bothered. It is hard to look someone in the face knowing that they are doing you wrong and no one knows it but you and them. Spiritually the others did not catch on to what was happening and sadly Judas was a tool for the Devil to use.

The Vine and the Branches
John 15
I am the true Vine and my Father is the Gardner. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in  you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine, Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.

  • He washed their feet because he said that it was needed in order to be clean
  • The word he speaks makes us clean before God
  • When we abide in him and his word abides in us we are clean

The Work of the Holy Spirit
  • Grief for his death will turn to joy
