The Plague on the First born

The Passover 

The Lord said to Moses and Aaron in Egypt, This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year. Tell the community of Israel that on the tenth day of this month each man is to take a lamb for his family, one for each household. If any household is too small for a whole for a whole lamb, they must share one with the nearest neighbor, having taken into account the number of people there are. You are to determine the amount of lamb needed in accordance with what each person will eat. 

 

the blood was put on the door post

the meat was eaten (roasted in the fire) could not be boiled 

they were instructed to eat with staff in the hand, sandals on their feet, and to eat hastenly (fast)

On that same night God brought Judgement on Egypt and their gods. 

The blood was a sign for them on their houses, when God sees the blood he would passover that household. 

But how do we translate this special day today; it is through Easter. Jesus Christ died on the cross and his death, burial, and resurrection happened during passover. His resurrection is seen as a new kind of passover! a passage from death to life. (Salvation, The illustrated Bible.
