God with Us
Happy Thursday!
Psalms 12
How long wilt thou forget me, O Lord? for ever? how long wilt thou hide thy face from me?
How long shall I take counsel in my soul, having sorrow in my heart daily? how long shall mine enemy be exalted over me?
Consider and hear me, O Lord my God: lighten mine eyes, lest I sleep the sleep of death;
Lest mine enemy say, I have prevailed against him; and those that trouble me rejoice when I am moved.
But I have trusted in thy mercy; my heart shall rejoice in thy salvation.
I will sing unto the Lord, because he hath dealt bountifully with me.
Sometimes we find ourselves waiting for God to handle the tough situations in life. We know David's story. He had encounter many problems with King Saul.
The moments of waiting feel like forever.
In moments like those we can find ourselves sitting and thinking about how the enemy is happy about what we are going through. Of course the Devil loves to put burdens on us.
On the other hand I love David's end resolution. David says I will sing unto the Lord; even though things are not what I want them to be he has still dealt bountifully with me. Even in the hardest times God is still good.
Matthew 9
Jesus Forgives and Heals a Paralyzed Man
Jesus stepped into a boat, crossed over and came to his own town. Some men brought to him a paralyzed man, lying on a mat.
When Jesus saw their faith, he said to them, "Take heart, son; your sins are forgiven."
At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, "This fellow is blaspheming!"
Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said,
"Why do you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts?
Which is easier; to say, your sins are forgiven; or to say, your sins are forgiven, or to say, Get up and walk? But I want you to know that the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.
So he said to the paralyzed man,
"Get up, take up your mat and go home.
Then the man got up and went home. When the crowd saw this, they were filled with awe; and they praised God, who had given authority to man.
Life can paralyze us. Like David we can be in a dazed.
We can sit thinking and thinking (evil thoughts).
The devil does not want us forgiven. He wants us punished. He wants people burden with old things but God says what is easier. Get up or your sins are forgiven. God is not putting negative old things on our minds to sit and be paralyzed over. It will always be the devil. We do not have to think evil thoughts.
Sometimes we have to pick up and move on.
Have a blessed day!
