 God with Us

Happy Saturday!

Psalms 29

NIV BIBLE

A psalm of David.

1 Ascribe to the Lord, you heavenly beings,

    ascribe to the Lord glory and strength.

2 Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name;

    worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

3 The voice of the Lord is over the waters;

    the God of glory thunders,

    the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.

4 The voice of the Lord is powerful;

    the voice of the Lord is majestic.

5 The voice of the Lord breaks the cedars;

    the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.

6 He makes Lebanon leap like a calf,

    Sirion like a young wild ox.

7 The voice of the Lord strikes

    with flashes of lightning.

8 The voice of the Lord shakes the desert;

    the Lord shakes the Desert of Kadesh.

9 The voice of the Lord twists the oaks

    and strips the forests bare.

And in his temple all cry, “Glory!”

10 The Lord sits enthroned over the flood;

    the Lord is enthroned as King forever.

11 The Lord gives strength to his people

    the Lord blesses his people with peace.

David bares his soul in the Psalms. Do you notice a change in his voice when he becomes peaceful and resting in faith. He hears the voice God. The voice of the Lord is strong and powerful and it moves things for his people. I love the last verse because God is a god of peace. Troubles and trials can make the soul perplexed but when  we calm down we see clearly, we hear clearly, and we find the peace we search for.

Matthew 15

Jesus talks about inner purity

"Don't you understand? Jesus asked him. Anything you eat passes through the stomach and then goes out of the body. But evil words come from an evil heart and defile the person who says them. For from the heart come evil thoughts , murder, adultery, all other sexual immorality, theft, lying, and slander. These are what defile you. Eating with unwashed hands could never defile you and make you unacceptable to God.

We know he loves us and we have to love him and talk to him with pleasing words and actions.

Our Words

Our Actions

What does it mean to be acceptable in his sight.

 He has to create in us a clean heart and a renewed spirit.

The Lord says there are things that defile us?  There are things that make us unclean. It makes us dirty and unacceptable in the sight of God. It does not say rejected. It says defiled.

Things such as:

lying

murder

theft

slander

evil thoughts...

God sees it in a persons heart and that person is defiled or unclean. It is not eating with unclean hands but those things that come out from the heart.

Have a great day!
