Psalms 58

For the director of music. To the tune of “Do Not Destroy.” Of David. A miktam.

1 Do you rulers indeed speak justly?

    Do you judge people with equity?

2 No, in your heart you devise injustice,

    and your hands mete out violence on the earth.

3 Even from birth the wicked go astray;

    from the womb they are wayward, spreading lies.

4 Their venom is like the venom of a snake,

    like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears,

5 that will not heed the tune of the charmer,

    however skillful the enchanter may be.

6 Break the teeth in their mouths, O God;

    Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions!

7 Let them vanish like water that flows away;

    when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.

8 May they be like a slug that melts away as it moves along,

    like a stillborn child that never sees the sun.

9 Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns—

    whether they be green or dry—the wicked will be swept away.

10 The righteous will be glad when they are avenged,

    when they dip their feet in the blood of the wicked.

11 Then people will say,

    “Surely the righteous still are rewarded;

    surely there is a God who judges the earth.”

David exclaims the wicked go astray even at birth. The Righteous have to stand against contrary winds but we can hold to God's unchanging hands. He sees and he knows the heart of the righteous; and he knows the wicked.

Whoever is Not Against Us is for Us

Teacher said John.

'We saw someone driving out demons in your name and we told him to stop, he was not one of us.

"Do not stop him, Jesus said. For no one who does a miracle in my name can in the next moment say anything bad about me, for whoever is not against us is for us. Truly I tell you, anyone who gives you a cup of water in my name because you belong to the Messiah will certainly not lose their reward."

His relationship with his disciples was one of a friendship. They were not equal with God, but God treated them as friends not as one that dictated over them. He taught them by word and by experiences. I can tell you something; and I can teach you, and lastly one can model (or live) that which you teach. Jesus tells the enemy what God says for example he cast out demons. You cannot have a relationship with evil he does not relate to demons or the devil. His disciples are his friends. His followers are his friends. His believers are his heart. He says because you believe in me, I will not disappoint. He prays Father let no one take them out of my hand.... he has great affection. He is a supporter. He wants to assist.  His deposition is a model for leadership and for discipleship. They were his learners and his friends, and the Lord treated them as friends. 

He treats us the same way.

David felt comfortable talking with God.

We can talk with him.

We can walk with him.

He will teach us.
