 God With Us

Happy Wednesday!

Psalms 63

A psalm of David. When he was in the Desert of Judah.

1 You, God, are my God,

    earnestly I seek you;

I thirst for you,

    my whole being longs for you,

in a dry and parched land

    where there is no water.

2 I have seen you in the sanctuary

    and beheld your power and your glory.

3 Because your love is better than life,

    my lips will glorify you.

4 I will praise you as long as I live,

    and in your name I will lift up my hands.

5 I will be fully satisfied as with the richest of foods;

    with singing lips my mouth will praise you.

6 On my bed I remember you;

    I think of you through the watches of the night.

7 Because you are my help,

    I sing in the shadow of your wings.

8 I cling to you;

    your right hand upholds me.

9 Those who want to kill me will be destroyed;

    they will go down to the depths of the earth.

10 They will be given over to the sword

    and become food for jackals.

11 But the king will rejoice in God;

    all who swear by God will glory in him,

    while the mouths of liars will be silenced.

God my help.

He grounds us.

But he lets us fly in planes.

A plane has electrical and man-made wings.

God has wings.

He lives in the heavens.

His angels travel back and forth.

Far above the Eagles and the galaxies he flies.

The Psalmist says he sings in the shadow of his wings.

Mark cont...

The Greatest Commandment

The People always had questions for him.

This time no one had any more questions for him.

Mark 12:28-34 28

One of the teachers of the law came and heard them debating. Noticing that Jesus had given them a good answer, he asked him, "Of all the commandments, which is the most important?"

29"The most important one," answered Jesus, "is this:

'Hear, O Israel: The LORD our God, the LORD is one.

30Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.'

31The second is this: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.' There is no commandment greater than these."

32"Well said, teacher," the man replied. "You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him.

33To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices."

34When Jesus saw that he had answered wisely, he said to him, "You are not far from the kingdom of God." And from then on no one dared ask him any more questions.

The things that challenge us

Out of our abundance we can give.

Some people give out of the little they have.

But the man or woman who loves is doing the most.....

How Important is it........It is More Important...?

When the teacher of the Law said to him loving your neighbor is more important than sacrifices and offerings the Lord told him you are not far from the Kingdom of God. We can give and sacrifice, but we love is more important. What is this love God speaks of...simply loving others and treating them as we would want to be treated?

Have a great day!
