God With Us

Happy Friday!

I am thankful for God's love.

It is a fact that the world needs God more than ever.

There is so much going on around the world and as we read through the psalms look how David pleaded with God. He longed for God. In his heart he wanted righteousness. He wanted to be right, and God anointed him. Is he a special human being? No. He hated the things wicked people did. He detested their ways; he told God save me from this world. I love living but I would rather live for you. There are people who know their need for God and there are still people who believe they have no need for God.

Psalm 134

A song of ascents.

1 Praise the Lord, all you servants of the Lord

who minister by night in the house of the Lord.

2 Lift up your hands in the sanctuary

    and praise the Lord.

3 May the Lord bless you from Zion,

he who is the Maker of heaven and earth.

Just some internet buzz:

David is listed as the author of 73 psalms, Asaph of 12, and the sons of Korah of 11. Other psalms were written by Solomon, Heman the Ezrahite, Ethan the Ezrahite, and Moses (Psalm 90). The earliest extant copy of Psalms is from the Dead Sea Scrolls from about the first century AD. That copy shows that the division into five books extends to at least that time and certainly earlier.
