April 28, 2020 Good Day!

Psalms 58

For the director of music.
To the tune of "Do Not Destroy."
Psalm of David. A miktam.

Do you rulers speak justly?
Do you judge people with equity?
No, in your heart you devise injustice,
and your hands mete out violence
on the earth.

Even from birth the wicked go astray;
from the womb they are wayward,
spreading lies.

Their venom is like the venom of a snake,
like that of a cobra that has stopped its ears,
that will not heed the tune of the charmer,
however skillful the enchanter may be.

Break the teeth in their mouths,
O God;
Lord, tear out the fangs of those lions!
Let them vanish like water that flows away,
when they draw the bow, let their arrows fall short.

May they be like a slug that melts away as it moves along,
like a stillborn child that never sees the sun.

Before your pots can feel the heat of the thorns--
whether they be green or dry--the wicked will be
swept away.

The Righteous will be glad when they are avenged,
when they dip their feet in the blood of the wicked.

Then people will say, "Surely the righteous still are rewarded;
surely there is a God who judges the earth.

There will always be a difference between the righteous and wicked. It goes back to the old scripture what fellowship does light have with darkness? The righteous do not like the things the wicked say and do; and the wicked do like the things the righteous say and do. We are reading from King David's perspective. He was a righteous man. I can only image how much he dislike injustice and oppression.

LUKE 7
This Chapter is broken into 4 different sections. The faith of the Centurion, Jesus heals the widows son, Jesus and John the Baptist, Jesus anointed by a sinful woman.

THE FAITH OF THE CENTURION

When Jesus had finished saying all this to the people who were listening, he entered, Capernaum. There was a centurion's servant, whom his mastered valued highly, was sick and about to die. The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, this man deserves to have you do this, because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue. So Jesus went with them.

He was not far from the house when the centurion sent his friends to say to him: Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof. That is why I did not even consider myself worthy to come to you. But say the word, and my servant will be healed.

(The centurion showed great respect for God. I love his faith. Over and over again in the book of Psalms it reveals that no word spoken by God will go unfulfilled. It is a universal truth if God has spoken it; it will come to pass. What he speaks comes to pass.)

For I myself am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. I tell this one, Go, and he goes; and that one, Come, and he comes. I say to my servant, Do this, and he does it.

When Jesus heard this, he was amazed at him, and turning to the crowd following him, he said, I tell you, I have not found such great faith even in Israel. Then the man who been sent returned to the house and found the servant well.

JESUS RAISES A WIDOWS SON
The Creator; and the Giver of Life

Soon afterward, Jesus went to a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd went along with him. As he approached the town gate, a dead person was being carried out--the only son of his mother, and she was a widow. And a large crowd from the town was with her. When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, "Don't Cry."

Then he went up and touched the bier they were carrying him on, and the bearers stood still. He said, Young man, I say to you, get up! The dead man sat up and began to talk, and Jesus gave him back to his mother.

(I know lots of people that read the bible but they do not believe in the resurrection. I believe God is Life! What do I mean? For example when did life begin? Or what is the science of it? I do not know, but I like to look at it as a whole picture. When I think about the resurrection I think about God breathing or giving (or he spoke it) the breath of life to Adam. Adam was just a body made from the dust. He is the creator of all things. It is not far fetched or unbelievable but it makes complete sense to me. Some people  believe in evolution and they believed that life formed from cells. If that is true how come those cells stop producing life on their own. As a creation believer it is not a mystery to me that God can raise the dead because he created man.

Where did death come from?

Why do we die?

Why does the devil wants us to sin?

Is Resurrection foreign to us?

The devil wants us to sin because he wants us to die. But God wants us to have life. Death is the punishment for sin. Everything about God is life. Resurrection. Redemption. Born again.

Adams sin brought death into the world. The resurrection supports Genesis the story of Creation. The fact that he raised people from the dead shows that he is about life and not death.

[ Genesis 1 ] The Creation and the Creator

  1. Moses is the writer of the book of Genesis (as well as five other books)
  2. God spoke to Moses and they had a great relationship. Moses was a highly regarded man.
  3. Genesis begins with creation. Since Moses is the writer we get some details but not a lot.
Genesis 1:24
And God said, Let the land produce living creatures according to their own kind; livestock, the creatures that move along the ground, and the wild animals, each according to its kind....................................................................................................................................................Verse 26, Then God said, Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea, and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.

He created all life? We are still reproducing.

The animals, the tress, and all living things.

If he created Life he must have power over the living and the dead.

They were all filled with awe and praised God. A great prophet has appeared among us, they said, God has come to help his people. This news about Jesus spread throughout Judea and the sounding country.

JESUS AND JOHN THE BAPTIST

John disciples told him about all these things, Calling two of them, he sent them to the Lord to ask, Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?

At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. So he replied to the messengers, Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is proclaimed to the poor. Blessed is anyone who does not stumble on account of me.

After Johns messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: what did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed swayed by the wind? If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fined clothes? No, those who were expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces. But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes I tell you, and more than a prophet. This is the one about who it is written:

I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.

I tell among those born of women there is not greater than John; yet the one who is least in the Kingdom of God is greater than he.

All the people, even tax collectors, when they heard Jesus' words, acknowledged that God's way was right, because they had been baptized by John. But the Pharisees and the experts in the law rejected God's purpose for themselves, because they had not been baptized by John.

Jesus went on to say, To what, then, can I compare the people of this generation? What are they like? They are like children sitting in the market place and calling out to each other.

We played the pipe for you,

and you did not dance;
we sang a dirge
and you did not cry

For John the Baptist came neither eating bread or drinking wine, and you say, He has a demon. The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and you say, her is a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners. But wisdom is proved right by all her children.

(God has a standard and he is the one that decides what is right and what is wrong)

JESUS ANOINTED BY A SINFUL WOMAN

When one of the Pharisees invited Jesus to have dinner with him, he went to the Pharisees house and reclined at the table. A woman in that town who lived a sinful life learned that Jesus was eating at the Pharisees house, so she came there with an alabaster jar of perfume, As she stood behind him at his feet weeping, she began to wet his feet with her tears. Then she wiped them with her hair, kissed them and poured perfume on them.

When the Pharisee who had invited him saw this, he said to himself, If this man were a prophet, he would know who is touching him and what kind of woman she is--that she is a sinner.

Jesus answered him, Simon, I have something to tell you.

Tell me, teacher he said.

"Two people owed money to a certain moneylender. One owed him five hundred denarii, and the other fifty. Neither of them had the money to pay him back, so he forgave the debts of both. Now which of them will love him more?

Simon replied, "I suppose the one who had the bigger debt forgiven.

You have judged correctly, Jesus said. Then he turned toward the woman and said Simon, "Do you see this woman? I came into your house. You did not give me any water for my feet, but she wet my feet with her tears and wiped them with her hair. You did not give me a kiss, but this woman, from the time I entered has not stopped kissing my feet. You did not put oil on my head, but she has poured perfume on my feet. Therefore, I tell you, her many sins have been forgiven--as her great love has shown. But whoever has been forgiven little loves little."

Then Jesus said to you, "Your sins are forgiven.

The other guests began to say among themselves, "who is this who even forgives sins?

Jesus said to the woman, "Your faith has saved you, go in peace.

For these bible passages I used the NIV Study Bible.  It is very resourceful.

Have a wonderful day!
