Psalms 60

For the director of music. To the tune of "The Lily of the Covenant. A miktam of David. For teaching. When he fought Aram Naharaim and Aram Zobah, and when Joab returned and struck down twelve thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.

You have rejected us, God, and burst
upon us;
you have been angry--now
restore us!

You have shaken the land and torn it open;
mend its fractures, for it is quaking

You have shown your people desprerate times.
You have given us wine that makes us stagger.

But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner

to be unfurled against the bow.

Save us and help us with your right hand, that
those you love may be delievered.

God has spoken from his sanctuary; and
In triumph I will parcel out Shechem
and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.

Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine;
.Judah is my scepter.
Moab is my washbasin,
Oh Edom I toss my sandal;
over Philista I shout in Triumph.

Who will bring me to the fortified City?
Who will lead me to Edom?
Is it not you, God, you have now rejected us
and no longer go out with our armies?

Give us aid against the enemy,
for human help is worthless.
With God we will gain victory, and he will
trample down our enemies.

David has won many battles.

Moab, Edom, Philista, Gilead, Manasseh, Judah..........
How does David win?

  • through people
  • with God
  • money
  • Influence.                                            How cool is it to have God on your side! The Lord is mighty and strong. Forget the shields, you can forget weapons because through out the bible they won victories without even sweating. Before the battle began it would be over.

Luke The Eleventh Chapter
Verses 1-13
Jesus Teaches How to Pray

One day Jesus was praying in a certain place. When he finished, one of his disciples said to him, Lord, teach us to pray, just as John taught his disciples.

He said to them, When you pray say;

Father
Hallowed be your name,
your kingdom come.
Give us each day our daily bread.
Forgive us our sins,
for we also forgive everyone who
sins against us.
And Lead us not into temptation.

Then Jesus said to them, "Suppose you have a friend, and you go to him at midnight and say, Friend, lend me three loaves of bread; a friend of mine on a journey has come to me, and I have no food to offer him. And suppose the one inside answers, Don't bother me. The door is already locked, and my children, and I are in bed. I can't get up and give you anything. I tell you, even though he will not get up and give you the bread because of friendship, yet because of your shameless audacity he will surely get up and give you as much as you need.

So I say to you: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks the door will be opened.

Which of you fathers, if your son asks for fish, will give him a snake instead? Of if he ask for an egg, will give him a scorpion? If you then, though, you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!

He tells them that God will give them the gift of the Holy Spirit?

  1. the amplified bible says Holy Spirit
  2. The king James says Holy spirit
  3. New International says Holy Spirit

Which is consistent with; Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and all these other things (natural things) will be added unto thee.

Do you think that this is what God desires for us to ask for!
Then we will be empowered to do all we desire naturally. Do you think Jesus is guiding them to know this is what you need to pray and ask for.

Or do you think most people think of this passage as referring to things and other request to God. But God wants to give us the GIFT and the gift is the Holy spirit. He calls it a good gift. A gift is something special it is something that we must need in order for our communion or fellowship with God to work.

If we being evil know how to give good gifts to our children how much more does God want to give something special to us.

What do you think?

God will grant our request just because we have the audacity to ask for it.

Have a wonderful day!
