 Topic: Prayer and Praise

Praying to the Lord

Acts 4:24

(Peter's and John's report)

(their good report caused the believers to pray)

When they heard this, the raised their voices together in prayer to God. Sovereign Lord, "they said, "you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them.

2 Co 12:8

To the one there is given through the Spirit a message of wisdom, to another a message of knowledge by means of the same Spirit, to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healing by that one Spirit, to another miraculous powers, to another prophecy, to another distinguishing between spirits, to another speaking in different kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.

Lk 23:42

(The thief on the cross)

(He petitioned (he asked) the Lord)

Then he said, Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.  Jesus answered him, "Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.

Ac 7:56

(The Stoning of Stephen)

Look, he said, I see heaven open and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God.

Jesus heard and he answered. We pray to the Father but the bible also states that we cannot have the Father without the Son. There are moments in life when Jesus sees you and he understands. In the previous passages these men where in life or death situations. Sometimes their request was not proper or formal.  For example the thief on the cross was being crucified because he lived the life of a thief but when he encountered Jesus he believed and he was saved. There are lots of people around the world who know nothing about traditions and prayer but if they lift up their voice with a sincere heart and call upon the name of the Lord; they will be saved. He came to save the world. Even though some have the traditions and formal structure of prayer. If you find yourself  in trouble his name (Jesus) works perfectly fine. The thief said Lord (JESUS remember me when you come into your kingdom) he simply believed. At the stoning of Stephen the Lord was present. There are times when we cry out to Jesus in need of help and saving! He is always on time, he always hears, and his ear is always to the earth.

Have a great day!
