God Is Good
Happy Sunday/Happy Monday
Yes its true. Some people know God is Good while others may feel differently. The passage below comes from Matthew 8. It begins with verse 28 and ends at verse 34.
And when he was come to the other side into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with devils, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.
1. these men would run down real fast. This is the NIV bible it says exceedingly fierce. They did not want any one getting passed them.
29 And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
1. The demons (yet we see the men) are dangerous and menacing yet they say, Jesus did you come to torment us. CRAZY. STRANGE. A person with a demon is not rational. They say things that they are doing as if you are doing them. I love that Jesus does not have a conversation with them. He is trying to get PASS them. They are blocking the path. As the passage goes on the town does not rejoice at demons leaving they are wanting the demons to stay.
30 And there was a good way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.
31 So the devils besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, suffer us to go away into the herd of swine.
The men are dangerous and lack good judgement. The Lord did not take on a violent approach. They change their position. They asked him. Can we go into the pigs.
32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the herd of swine: and, behold, the whole herd of swine ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.
33 And they that kept them fled, and went their ways into the city, and told every thing, and what was befallen to the possessed of the devils.
34 And, behold, the whole city came out to meet Jesus: and when they saw him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
1. They were dangerous.
2. No one could get through the town.
3. No one could stop these men or reason with them.
4. Talking was out. They were unreasonable.
5. Demons fight to stay.
6. They don't have a home unless some person (through thinking/actions) give them place in their life.
When you see violence.
When you see reckless driving/behavior.
Anger.
Stalking.
Crimes.
Hate.
Racism.
If a person rationalizes why they commit violence or hideous acts. Or they even say that person DESERVES it. When did God ever allow a demon to hurt other people. How can demons says what other people deserve. They are committing crimes but once again it is an unreasonable person. The demon in them do not want to leave. It wants to stay. Guess what it will fight to stay. Another thing I want to point out is the response of the town. They wanted Jesus to leave.
GOD'S RESPONSE TO DEMONS
We never see Jesus lift a hand against anyone. The demons asked him are you coming to torment us and then they ask him could they go into the pigs. They were confused. It seems to me they tormented people. The demon is on the inside of the person but here are two men just a victim to demons. Their words confused. Their thinking blurry. Jesus says yes to the demons going to the pigs. God is good. He is not violent. We are not called to meet violence with violence. There was video that surfaced. A bit sad for both parties. A pastor had a woman who refused his directions or it seemed as if she was a disturbance to what he wanted. As she walks past the pulpit he placed his hands on her forcefully and removed her from the church. I understand but I wonder did he ever take the time to have a conversation with her to see if she was reasonable. Is she crazy. Explain the rules (what they wanted for their church) privately and if her behavior continued. Why not simply and decently ask her to leave the establishment to find an establishment more suitable to what she wanted to do. If she refuse to leave. I would have had her removed by the proper authority. Her having a male put his hands on a woman could not have been a pleasant experience for her. I felt empathy for both parties. Violence is never the answer.
ITS JUST NOT THE STREETS (WORLD) ANYMORE
It is becoming popular for various people who say they are believers to gather together and commit violence acts. Oftentimes their reply is (this person deserves this). Even when Peter cut off the Roman guards ear God never agrees with violence. I am not sure what bible they are reading from. Violence is demonic. When did God ever tell us to go out and be violent. He says go into all the world and preach the gospel. He never said to beat people up, steal, kill, block their path, lie, cheat, break their belongings, and just act crazy. I believe that person is irrational and their excuse for being violent is just that something they think to excuse their behavior.
Violence in any form is demon possession.
If violence is funny to you. You could be like the people in the town. Watching people with demons do things no one should be comfortable with.
Have a great day!
