Words can serve the purpose of building the different parts of us.

Knowledge (Godly or good/ Empowering Information)

Wisdom (life and living) (Principles)

Building the spirit (strength to do right) (faith that God will help you) (to think as God thinks) to do as he please. Or to please God in your circumstances.

Words of life (the land of the living)

Psalms 91 David is definitely talking to his Spirit. As he encounters Saul. He uplifts his spirit. I believe the Holy Spirit spoke to him and he spoke to himself. Letting those words manifest into reality.
